The benefits of root zone heating to extend a plant's growing season and increase plant yield has been recognized and employed by farmers for centuries. With proper root zone heat management, tropical plants can grow in 45°F/7°C ± ambient air so long as the root zone is in the 70°F/21°C± range.
The greater the fluctuation in root zone temperatures in any 24 hour period, the more stressed the plant becomes. This can result in both physical and pathological problems causing plants to become increasingly susceptible to pathogens and insects. Maintaining consistent temperature levels in the root zone keeps both the biological elements and roots in a stress-free environment and optimizes plant growth.
An amorphous metal is a solid metallic material, usually an alloy, with a disordered atomic-scale structure. Most metals are crystalline in their solid-state, which means they have a highly ordered arrangement of atoms. Amorphous metals are non-crystalline and have a glass-like structure. But unlike standard glass, which is an electrical insulators, amorphous metals have good electrical conductivity and act as super-capacitors.
